Dates Set for Ricky Martin, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Jeff Goldblum’s “Glee” Debuts
Ricky Martin, who will return to Broadway later this season in the revival of the Tony-winning Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical Evita, will make his debut on the hit Fox series “Glee” Feb. 7.
Martin, who was also seen on Broadway in the original run of Les Miserables, will play a Spanish teacher in an episode simply titled “The Spanish Teacher.”
In the episode, according to Fox, “Will (Matthew Morrison) gives the glee club a Spanish-singing assignment, and enlists the help of his musically-inclined night school teacher (guest star Martin). Meanwhile, Rachel (Lea Michele) spills the beans to Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) about Finn’s (Cory Monteith) marriage proposal, and Mercedes has love complications of her own.”
The Feb. 14 episode, entitled “Heart,” will boast the first appearance of Rachel’s (Lea Michele) adoptive parents, played by stage and screen stars Jeff Goldblum and Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell. “In honor of Valentine’s Day,” according to press notes, “Mr. Schuester challenges New Directions to find and perform the world’s greatest love songs. Meanwhile, Rachel’s two dads, Hiram (guest star Jeff Goldblum) and LeRoy Berry (guest star Brian Stokes Mitchell), pay a visit to McKinley High.”
The Feb. 21 episode, which is titled “On My Way,” is described as such: “Things heat up as the New Directions go head-to-head with the Dalton Academy Warblers at Regionals in the all-new Winter Finale of ‘Glee.'”
